Chris Evans Says 'By No Means Am I Planning on Retiring'

Fear not, Chris Evans fans. He's not walking away just yet.

Following recent statements he made about quitting acting to take up directing, the Captain America: The Winter Soldier star now says he's doesn't plan on retiring from the spotlight.

"I said that I directed last year. I really responded to it. I really enjoyed it," the 32-year-old said on Good Morning America Monday. "I'd love to focus a little bit more on that."

He added, "By no means am I planning on retiring. It's kind of a silly statement. But I certainly am going to try to focus a bit more on directing at this point."

Speaking to Variety this month, Evans seemed to say that he planned to curb his acting roles, apart from his contractual commitments.

"If I'm acting at all, it's going to be under Marvel contract, or I'm going to be directing," he said in the interview. "I can't see myself pursuing acting strictly outside of what I'm contractually obligated to do."
